I paint because I love the land, landscape painting allows me to put my emotion and love for the land into paintings. I perceive the land as bright and colourful, full of optimism and hope and this is the
effect that I try and instill in my work and in the hearts and minds of those that view my paintings.

I paint because I want to leave something of value behind for family, friends and others who enjoy my work, to make the statement: “I was here!”

I paint because it’s a challenge not to accept a “comfort zone” in your work and to be innovative and try new techniques. This is especially important as you age, it keeps you young!

I paint because of all the other artists I’ve met over the years, and the give and take of artistic experience, although i wasn’t aware of this when I started.

I paint because my grandchildren think “it’s really cool to have a “bumpa” who is an artist”.

I paint because I can!
