Lanni Weingarten

Lanni is a mixed media artist, yogi, and dog lover living in Vancouver, Canada. Informed by nature and her love of yoga, Lanni's artwork explores a whimsical response to the everyday beauty she sees around her. The movement in her paintings mimic the way she feels when on her yoga mat. Lanni’s art pulls the viewer’s eye into her pieces, giving the viewer time and space to process and pause.  She likes playing with colour, texture and mediums to create layers and depth in her “feel good”, happy art. Recent exhibits include The Artist Project 2024, Toronto, Ont and The Eastside Culture Crawl 2023, Vancouver, BC.

When I sit among the art in my home, I feel like I am being greeted by old friends. There is a sense that as long as my art is in its place on my walls, so are the other elements of my life. I like to create pieces that allow the viewer to experience this same feeling: to view my art as a good friend that elicits feelings of warmth, softness, and joy.

My paintings are influenced by nature and the beauty I see around me. I love to create depth by layering my art with acrylics, inks, pastels, pens, collage, pencils, resin, and encaustic wax. These materials give my paintings a whimsical nature and provide space for the viewer to pause and reflect. I use subtle messages, affirmations, and pleasantries to remind the viewer what is truly important in life. The viewer’s eyes are meant to peruse my paintings in a slow meditative way, like the way one would meander while walking through a garden. When the viewer slows down to uncover the layers of the painting, they in turn reveal the layers from their life that may not have been in view before.
