“For me, sitting by the water helps me relax and recharge and provides me with a feeling of peacefulness. It’s a much needed escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life in the city.

My artwork aims to provide this same sense of peacefulness and escape. As a result, the colour palette is simplified with a muted monochromatic colour scheme and subtle shifts in values to keep that sense of peacefulness as well as provide perspective. The compositions are also simplified - a cross between realism and abstraction. The scenes may not be of specific locations but they still feel very familiar. Together, they create a feeling of calm and serenity.

Up close, aspects of the work are soft and flowy, while other areas are highly texturized allowing the light to bounce off the work giving it depth and dimension. The unique lace-like texture in the rocks along with the monochromatic colour palette has been a key aspect of the majority of my work which has evolved from a geometric style to this current landscape collection.”
