Melt Gallery presents Fleeting, the solo exhibition by multidisciplinary artist Glen Wallis. Returning to his “Butterfly Quilts,” Wallis uses encaustic painting to explore themes of impermanence, memory, and preservation.

Inspired by traditional quilt-making and his love of sewing — a passion passed down from his grandmother — Wallis transforms the structure of quilts into layered, grid-like compositions. He incorporates found objects and natural materials, using wax as both a medium and a means of preservation.

His first encaustic painting began with a dead butterfly found during a walk, a moment that shaped his approach to capturing the fragile and fleeting. Fleeting invites viewers to reflect on what is often overlooked, offering quiet, tactile meditations on time and memory.
