Inspired by the beauty and texture of worn walls and peeling paint, what can be viewed as decay, I see as rich in narrative, and lives lived. I focus on figurative abstraction, blending figures into collages that include recycled sketches, photos of rusted, neglected surfaces and found papers. Integrating figures into layered grounds is my way of saying: we are our contexts, all of us connected, with responsibilities to one another and to the world around us.
Stroll (3) incorporates photos of a favourite rusted Coca-cola sign as well as old brick walls, both photographed during travel to Mexico.
